About us
Word Christian Community Church (WCCC) was registered under the name Word Christian Fellowship, Charitable Organization under the laws of British Columbia on February 19, 1999. Last April 28, 2015, the Registrar of Companies, Province of British Columbia has officially approved the change of name. Of the original five founding directors, only Bro. Ron de Villa and Bro. Babes Paulate remained active in WCCC. In September 2014, WCCC was recognized under the Marriage Act by the Vital Statistics office as a denomination that can authorize its ministers to solemnize weddings.
WCCC held services for a few years at the Spanish Cultural Centre in Carnarvon Street. In April of 2008, we moved the worship service to the Justice Institute of British Columbia (JIBC) at McBride Boulevard, New Westminster and acquired our first church property which served as WCCC’s headquarters: the Word Covenant Centre at 930 1st Street, New Westminster. In January 2014, we sold this property and temporarily held office at Suite 215-1515 Broadway St. Port Coquitlam V3C-6M2.
Starting September 2015, WCCC moved to its own office building and main worship hall at 336 Agnes St, New Westminster, BC V3L 1E9.
WCCC has also opened six daughter churches since 2007: Surrey, Richmond, Vancouver, Burnaby, Maple Ridge and our youth and young adults church – Bridge Network Fellowship (BNF). The mother church and main worship hall is in New Westminster.
In October 2022, New Westminster and Vancouver churches were combined and are now called WCCC Main Church.
Short History of WCCC
Positional Statements & Declaration of Faith
WCCC is an evangelical church denomination. The term “evangelical” comes from the Greek word “euangelion,” meaning Good News which is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. As evangelicals, we focus on sharing the Good News of salvation brought to sinners by our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
WCCC is not a Pentecostal, Baptist, or Reformed church, nor Calvinist or Arminian. While we have doctrinal beliefs that encompass different denominations, we would rather be known as faithful evangelicals who are followers of Jesus Christ, committed to share the Good News of His salvation.
WCCC adheres to the following maxim:
In Essentials Unity, In Non-Essentials Liberty,
In All Things Charity.
(Rupertus Meldenius, 1627)
By Essentials, we refer to key doctrines that are essential to a person’s salvation. Non-essentials are important doctrines but do not directly affect one’s salvation and are subject to different reasonable interpretations. We respect fellow believers who have different non-essential beliefs.
OUR ESSENTIAL BELIEFS
I: Scripture
We believe the Bible is the Word of God, inspired and without error, holding authority on its own, independent of any external human or institutional approval. It is a complete and sufficient guide, embodying God's authority and sovereignty.
II: God’s Sovereignty
We believe in the one true eternal God, unchanging and of supreme authority and power, who created and controls everything. We acknowledge God's ultimate control and commit to respecting and honouring Him, recognizing that all events and existences fall under His sovereign will.
III: The Holy Trinity
We believe God is one being existing in three Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We acknowledge that these Persons are eternally beyond the limits of time and interconnected in a real and perfect relationship with one another.
IV: The Fall & Nature of Sin
We believe humanity was originally perfect but fell into sin, leading to spiritual death and total wickedness. This fall severed the relationship with God, rendering humans incapable of attaining purity and holiness on their own.
V: Salvation
We believe that, despite humanity's fall, a divine plan was predestined through Jesus Christ to redeem the sinful. Salvation is a gift achieved by grace alone, through faith in Christ alone, in accordance with Scripture alone—all for the glory of God alone.
VI: The Church
We believe the church is the body of Christ, with every member committed to caring for each other and honouring God. We believe that every man and woman in the church is part of a community of believers, collectively working to effectively honour God as one body by actively participating in ministries and fulfilling the Great Commission.
VII: End Times
We believe Jesus Christ will return bodily and in glory at a time known only to God the Father, marking the fulfillment of God’s redemptive plan. At His return, Christ will resurrect the dead, judge all humanity, and establish His eternal kingdom. This belief inspires us to live with hope, integrity, and love, as we await His triumphant return.

OUR NON-ESSENTIAL BELIEFS
WCCC practices water baptism by immersion (John 3:23, Matthew 3:16, and Acts 8:38)
WCCC observes the Lord’s Supper also known as Breaking of the Bread or Communion (Acts 2:46-47, Luke 22:19-20)
All believers experience baptism of the Holy Spirit (1 Cor 12:13) and it happens simultaneous to a person’s genuine conversion when he/she became “born again.”
Speaking in tongues is a gift from God and not every believer receives this gift. It is also not the only evidence of being baptized of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:11) but we place more importance on the fruit of the Holy Spirit seen in the lives of genuine believers (Galatians 5:22-23).
As a church, WCCC respects those who do practice speaking in tongues, but they must adhere with what the Apostle Paul requires in 1st Cor. 14 in terms of interpretation, orderly worship and edification of the church.
WCCC believes and practices tithing. It is a good and reasonable starting point for cheerful giving, done not out of compulsion but as an act of worship. (Matthew 23:23, Malachi 3:10, 2 Cor. 9:6-7)
WCCC ministers officiate weddings only between a man and a woman who agree with our essential faith beliefs and declaration (Matthew 19:4-6)
We acknowledge that we have very gifted female leaders, and they can serve in the senior leadership of the church as deacons (Romans 16:1). WCCC no longer ordains female pastors (1 Timothy 2:11–14, 1 Corinthians 14:34).
Eschatology:
- WCCC believes in the rapture of the Church (1 Thessalonians 4:13–18 and 1 Corinthians 15:50–54) as a separate event from the Second Coming of Christ (Zechariah 14:3–4).
- WCCC maintains a pre-tribulational view of the rapture (1 Thess. 5:9. Revelation 3:10) which immediately precedes the Seven-Year tribulation.
- WCCC believes that the Battle of Armageddon will happen at the end of the Seven-Year Tribulation during Christ’s Second Coming which will occur prior to His Millennial Kingdom, a literal 1,000-year reign of Christ here on earth. (Revelation 20:1-7)
- The final judgement will happen after the Millennial Kingdom; this is called the Great White Throne judgement.
